UltrasonographyAlthough humans and animals are different in many ways, some advances in human medicine are also very useful for veterinary patients. One of these advances, diagnostic ultrasound, has proven to be a powerful tool in veterinary medicine.
As a practice, one of our goals is to offer state-of-the-art medicine and diagnostic testing; so we are pleased to offer ultrasound services as a means of providing a higher level of quality care to our patients. |
AcupunctureWe are proud to offer dry needle (traditional) acupuncture as well as injectable. Acupuncture is a traditional technique that stimulates the nerves in order to restore their functions to an optimal state. This practice is often performed with needles inserted into distinct points, but can also be performed with injections.
Acupuncture is indicated for functional problems such as those that involve paralysis, noninfectious inflammation (such as allergies), and pain. For small animals, the following are some of the general conditions which may be treated with acupuncture:

End-of-Life CareAs pet parents ourselves, the Oronoque Animal Hospital staff understand the decisions and emotions you may be facing as your pet ages. We treat end of life care with the utmost compassion and respect. We are here to help you assess your best friend’s quality of life and assist you in knowing when to move from general geriatric care to hospice care or if euthanasia is warranted. We emphasize the human-animal bond each step of the way, knowing you have spent a life time together.
End-of-life hospice care provides palliative treatment for pets with terminal illnesses or debilitation associated with advanced age. The goal of treatment is not to preserve the length of life but to preserve or improve the quality of life for both you and your pet and to ensure your pet is pain-free every step of the way. We are here to guide you through this stage of life with your pet, providing compassion, answers, support, or a hug if that is what is needed. |
Health Certification for TravelWe want everything to go as smoothly as possible when traveling, especially with our pets! It is important to know that there is a great deal of paperwork and a multitude of regulations to navigate when choosing to travel with a pet. Please make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to research and plan prior to traveling since many requirements are time sensitive and require extensive paperwork and documentation. We cannot stress the importance of thorough planning enough.
The veterinarians at Oronoque Animal Hospital are accredited by the USDA to sign Health Certificates for your pets as you prepare them for domestic travel. If you are taking your pet across the state, a health certificate is required. The health certificate, or Certificate of Veterinary Inspection, is an official document stating that your pet has been examined by a licensed, USDA-accredited veterinarian and has been found free of communicable diseases or parasites, as of the day the certificate is issued. You will need a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection specific to the state of destination. This certificate can only be completed and signed by a federally-accredited veterinarian. When you return home, your veterinarian may recommend a follow-up examination to make sure that your pet did not pick up any diseases or parasites while traveling. |
